Welcome to Root, Stem, Base. This is a blog dedicated to languages and linguistics and how they fit into our everyday life.
Root, Stem, Base is the brain child of Karoline Antonsen (that’s me). Officially, I’ve been in love with linguistics since I was 18 and took my first linguistics course as an undergrad student. Since then, I’ve completed both a Bachelors and Masters degree, but I pretty quickly came to the understanding that the world of academia was not where I was supposed to end up.
I’ve been away from the world of linguistics since I graduated from my Masters in 2023. Since then, I’ve been working multiple part-time jobs to make ends meet while searching for a job that would fit in with my studies or at least make use of the skills I gained from my schooling. After almost two years, though, I’ve come up empty, and now I’m taking matters into my own hands with this blog.
